Tesla’s business is growing and so is the size of its business facilities. Fresh aerial view gallery of the Tesla Gigafactory 1 suggests that with the construction of newly completed four sections; the factory is growing in size, turning into a smaller city inf fact.
These aerial view were taken on March 17th, by an international company “NM Group.” The company’s Senior Vice President Nick Fergusan told that the premises were photographed while their crew was on a survey of the local area power-lines that day. Nick informed further that aboard a “LiDAR’ mounted small aircraft, they were flying over Sparks, Nevada when they observed the massive and awesome production factory underneath.
The pictures give us a clear view of the section D and section E, which have now been completed and located at the building’s north end. Section F is also can also be seen in the photos, adjoining the main, huge lobby to Tesla Gigafactory 1. Looking at these completed sections suggests that a large portion out of a total $1 billion in construction costs may have been consumed on their completion alone.
It has never been disclosed by Tesla whether what type of manufacturing is carried out at this facility, in these specific sections; all we know is that mass production of ‘2170 Cell’ was initiated early this year. The production of this particular high-performance cell had started even before the construction of D and E section took place.
As far as production of new lithium ion cell is concerned, the same is being carried out in conjunction with Panasonic Corporation while Tesla uses the cell in both its home energy storage and commercial systems, ‘Powerpack 2.0’ and ‘Powerwall 2.0’ respectively.
With ever-growing demand of Tesla products across the world, it is likely that company’s production facilities would grow further too.
